StRides Against Suicide & Overdose 2024 is hosting a 5k Run/Walk and 10, 40, 60 and 100 mile bike rides to raise funds for Mental Health and Substance Abuse Treatment for those in Northwest Indiana that are in need and cannot afford the treatment.

StRides Against Suicide & Overdose 2023: StRides Against Suicide & Overdose 2023 is hosting a 5k Run/Walk and 10, 40, 60 and 100 mile bike rides to raise funds for Mental Health and Substance Abuse Treatment for those in Northwest Indiana that are in need and cannot afford the treatment.

Set Sail with Misbeehavin’ for a Sunset Cruise on Friday, June 16th! Enjoy a relaxing cruise on Lake Michigan while taking in the sunset from one of the decks aboard the Emita II. Two complimentary drinks and light snacks will be provided along with a cash bar and live music.

We would like to invite those affected by Autism or developmental disabilities (young adults & older) to join is for an enjoyable time on Tuesday evenings in June. Our intention is to foster a sense of community and fun-filled experiences.

Buona and The Original Rainbow Cone, two Chicago staples, are celebrating the grand opening of their new Valparaiso, Indiana location on April 12. The Grand Opening will begin with a ribbon cutting ceremony at 9:30am; Valparaiso Mayor Matt Murphy and other local officials will be in attendance. 

Before the official opening day on April 11, Buona and Rainbow Cone will host a Benefit Night for Porter County CASA, which will be held from 5pm-8pm. The event will feature half-off of all Buona and Rainbow Cone menu items for dine-in and drive-thru guests who provide the event’s print or digital flyer with their order. All proceeds will go to support CASA, which advocates for abused and neglected children in the region.  

Maestro Troy Webdell and South Shore Orchestra are back at the Memorial Opera House for the 2022 Holiday Pops! A Valparaiso tradition, featuring holiday music from around the world as well as classical and contemporary Christmas favorites. Come sing along with Santa Claus as he prepares his sleigh to deliver some holiday cheer!

The Catholic Charities Mobile Food Pantry will be distributing free food on Monday, October 10th, starting 11:00 am in the parking lot of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 509 West Division Street, Valparaiso.

Food will be distributed to the first fifty families. Proof of Indiana residency is required. There will be drive up service, no need to get out of your car.

We are addressing an important issue that affects many people. Our mission is to spread awareness and raise money. The annual U.S. suicide rate increased 30% between 2000 and 2020. SUICIDE is the 2nd leading cause of death amongst 15–34 year olds in Indiana. In 2020, 100,306 people died by overdose in the US. One major barrier to mental health and substance abuse treatment is cost/and or lack of insurance. Our solution is to fund that treatment. Profits from the StRides Against Suicide and Overdose 2022 will be used to provide scholarships for mental health and substance abuse treatment for clients who are uninsured or cannot afford treatment. Your involvement is critical to our success in reducing the devastating numbers of Suicides and Overdoses. Thank you again for your help.

Join the MAAC Foundation for a family-friendly concert featuring Jo Dee Messina, with openers Preston James and Guns & Hoses on August 27th from 6 - 10 pm at the Porter County Fairgrounds. The concert will be followed by a firework show made possible by our generous sponsors. Tickets are available for the Early Bird special price of $35 until June 30th. All proceeds support first responder training here at the MAA
