Spring into action during the month of March and support a local non-profit with Valpo Parks! Our office will be taking donations to help support a Valparaiso organization in their journey to help families and children in the area.
This year we will be supporting The Backpacks and Snacks program through Valparaiso Community Schools. They have spread their roots within the community and now is your chance to help them grow!
To donate items, stop by the Valpo Parks office (3210 N. Campbell St.) and contribute to our cause!
Get to know the local non-profit:
The Backpacks and Snacks Program at Valparaiso Community Schools is an initiative aimed at addressing the needs of over 200 students who face food insecurity. In our community, some children experience hunger once they leave school and to combat this issue, dedicated school officials and volunteers assemble backpacks filled with child-friendly, non-perishable foods. These backpacks are discreetly distributed to qualifying students every Friday as they head home for the weekend. Each thoughtfully curated pack contains food for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and a snack for each day the child is out of school. This program ensures that these students have access to nutritious meals throughout the weekend.
