Your Guide To The 2016 Fall Harvest Festival


Don your costumes, decorate a pumpkin, make your way towards Downtown Valparaiso, and get ready to ‘fall’ into fun! The Fall Harvest Festival is coming your way. Our annual two-day celebration of one of our favorite seasons and is set for October 14-15. What will you see? What activities do we have lined up for you? Here’s a look:

The fun begins Friday, October 14 with downtown Trick-or-Treating! Dress up in your scariest, funniest, or most creative costume and go door-to-door all throughout to pick up some tasty treats from participating restaurants and retailers, and other organizations. Plus, enjoy free hayrides, provided by the Valparaiso Parks Department.

Trick-or-Treating runs from 4-6:00 p.m.

The fun doesn’t stop there! Join us for Day 2 Saturday, October 15 from 11am to 2pm. Enjoy live entertainment by Leonardo, The One-Man Band, and free balloon twisting by Mrs. B. In addition, you can participate in one of many activities. Navigate through an inflatable corn maze, get your face painted by the VHS Art Club, decorate a pumpkin donated by Century 21 Affiliated, or make your own taffy apple with the VHS Vikettes.

For the first time ever, we will be partnering with Lakeshore PAWS to bring you the Pooch Costume Parade! Dress up your dog and walk them through town, starting at the corner of Lincolnway and Lafayette. Prizes will be awarded for the scariest, funniest, and most creative costumes. There is no fee to participate, and pets must be on a leash. Then, when the parade is over, be sure to stop by the Lakeshore PAWS booth for adorable pups and dogs to adopt while you’re at the festival!
