2016 Valparaiso Popcorn Festival Recap
The 2016 Valparaiso Popcorn Festival has come and gone, and what a day it was! Thousands of you came out to celebrate, and helped to make it one of the biggest and best ever in its 38-year history.
For those who were unable to make it out, here’s some of what you missed:
From Porter County and beyond, thousands of people made their way to beautiful Downtown Valparaiso to celebrate, and not even a little rain could put a damper on anyone’s day. Thank you to everyone who came out and braved the elements, and helped to make this one of the most memorable Popcorn Festivals we’ve had in ages!
…AND THE WINNERS ARE
As always, the Popcorn Parade gave us a plethora of unique floats that made their way down Lincolnway. There were numerous entries, but only a handful could take home the title of best float. Who were your 2016 winners? They are:
- Grand Prize: Prompt/ United Way
- 2nd Place: Crosspointe Christian Church
- 3rd Place: Grandma and Grandpa
- Special Recognition: Vale Park Animal Hospital
- Best Little Kernel: Valpo & Washington Twp Girl Scouts
- Best New Float: Trinity Lutheran church
- Kids Walking Unit 1st: Beatrice Douglas-Arnold 2nd Yuki Yu
- Kid’s Bike Unit 1st: Rori and Ainslee McGinty 2nd Devin and Neil Jones

MUSIC TO OUR EARS
The South Shore CVA Main Stage at the Porter Health Amphitheater was a showcase for talent both local and national. From cover bands to rock n’ roll acts, to a musical icon of the past few decades, there was something for everybody! Put on your dancing shoes, turn up the volume, and re-live our afternoon at the Main Stage:
The Valparaiso Popcorn Festival has come and gone, and as we close the book on this year and start looking towards the future, we wanted to take a moment to say thank you to everyone who made this possible.
