While you’re checking out everything our town and the festival has to offer, these artists will be performing on the South Shore CVA Main Stage at the Porter Health Amphitheater, entertaining audiences the best way they can, through their music. Who will be performing this year? What can you expect? Here’s a look:
Over the years, the Main Stage has brought us an eclectic group of entertainers, from contemporary artists to the hottest up-and-comers. This year is no exception!
Who will be coming to rock the stage? Here’s a look:
Matthew Sweet is an accomplished singer-songwriter that has been active in the music world since the 1980s. As part of a growing music scene in Athens, Georgia, He achieved mainstream success in the 90s behind his album Girlfriend. Its title track received significant airplay on Top 40 radio, as well as MTV and MuchMusic. To date, he has released 14 albums, with a forthcoming 15th record coming out soon.
Since 2005, The Mudsharks are a band that brings unique styles, an energetic live show, and a wide range of covers from yesterday and today. R&B, classic rock, funk, blues, country, and everything else in between. You name it, they can play it. Since their formation, the Crown Point natives have received recognition from local radio stations, as well as being voted the #1 band on nwilive.com and being rated one of the top 10 cover bands in the Region by Barbands.com.
From NWI and the Greater Chicago area, Planetary Blues is an out-of-this-world group influenced by the blues. The band has made their name performing around bars and festivals around the midwest for the better part of the last decade, and entertaining many along the way. Now in 2016, they look to continue building and spread their sound all across the universe.
Nearly 30 years ago, Digital Hair rocked the Valparaiso Popcorn Festival. Come September 10, they’ll be reuniting once more. It may be 2016, but Digital Hair will return once more to bring the spirit (and the sound) of the 1980s to Downtown Valparaiso.
The Crawpuppies are not Cajun, but they are, however, an original/cover pop rock band hailing from NWI. With influences all over the rock n’ roll map, they’ve been entertaining audiences young and old for over 20 years.
The Main Stage always proves to be a rockin’ good time, and the tradition continues in 2016.
